This customer manufactures equipment across seventeen plants spread over several countries
Their manufacturing machinery is very advanced and capable of producing real time data as it operates
However, the company’s central legacy data systems and processes prevented them from obtaining that data efficiently
They had to rely on manual extracts of the machine data, dropping it into a CSV and sending once a week to the HQ for processing and analytics
This data was always at least a week in arrears, meaning that live production decisions were impossible to make from the HQ. Live inventory, machine downtime, component quality, etc had to be addressed well after the issues (and costs) have occurred – reactive approach
The company was looking at improving that situation with modern, real time analytics capabilities using the Cloud and modern tools
The challenge arose when they realised that a solution like this would have taken them eight months to implement with the prevalent technologies and cost seven figures before the running expenses (licenses + users + SaaS fees)
In addition, they would need to hire and train a number of additional engineers to maintain and manage the solution stack

If there were data source related disruptions, such as plant downtime, network issues, etc., IOblend would automatically recover the data and reprocess all transforms with notifications sent to the engineers and original totals archived
Data is easily traced with our record level data lineage and is automatically logged by the system
The output of the pipelines is channelled directly to the analytics dashboard, forecasting model and an inventory management system, enabling real time decisioning by the central teams – proactive approach
The ease of installation and implementation of IOblend meant that the original project timeline of eight months was reduced to just three weeks, including one week of the discovery phase
Additional efficiencies were gained through our simple annual licencing model, ease of further developments (single visual platform), minimal maintenance and supervision requirements
The end result? The project was successfully delivered well, well below the original estimates and we gained a very happy customer
